«For a new social contract in which we all fit»

Mutant Podcast: ‘For a new social contract in which we all fit’, is a Mutant Radio project by INMA.

In its 2022 edition, Mutant Radio has worked together with the UPM Higher Technical School of Engineering and Industrial Design (ETSIDI-UPM) and the ES NUESTRO project, to amplify citizen participation processes.

Using documentary theater as a work methodology, the university community of ETSIDI-UPM was able to approach the needs of the population residing in Lavapiés and Embajadores, to jointly determine the challenges facing the neighborhood regarding the 11th Sustainable Development Goal, Sustainable Cities and Communities.

The debate was framed around the idea of rethinking the social contract in the context of the environmental and social crisis we are experiencing. The time has come to put life at the center, not leave anyone behind and recognize that there are peripheries, diversity and as many realities as there are species living on the Planet.

'We've Never Been One: On Community Health, Environmental Health, and Personal Well-Being', is the second episode of this five-podcast series.

“The self-sufficient individual” is one of the ideas that has led us to the current environmental crisis. In this episode we propose to think of our bodies as entities interconnected with our environment; an environment that will only guarantee our health if we know how to take care of it.

Guests: Julia Diez, professor at the University of Alcalá de Henares and Nerea Calvillo, architect and works at the interdisciplinary methodologies research center in Warwick.

Collaborators: Alicia Carvajal, architect and strategic designer, and the 5th grade primary school students of the CEIP Navas de Tolosa School, Villaverde, Madrid, academic year 2022 – 2023.
